ENGINEER APPRENTICE
Great opportunity for an enthusiastic candidate wanting to receive a solid foundation in mechanical engineering in a growing Yorkshire firm. We design and supply various mechanical treatment plant for the water and sewage industry across the UK. This role will be hands on working in the workshop assembling equipment, having an opportunity to install the works on site (18+) and having exposure to various areas of the business, to see where each candidate naturally prefers to work at the end of their Apprenticeship.
What will the apprentice be doing?
To follow on from our existing Apprentices who are half way through their current courses. This role will assist in the workshop with the preparation and assembly of mechanical equipment and products for the clean water and sewage treatment works across the UK whilst attending a college setting approximately 1-2 days a week.
The role will develop, after relevant training and workshop experience and there will be an element of site works, this will involve attending site with a Supervisor to assist in mechanical installations and servicing of some of the products that have been assembled in the works. Generally, this will happen when the candidate is 18 years or over. Depending on the candidate’s abilities and interests, there may also be an element of training and activities in some of the functions carried out within the Business.
Day to Day duties include:
- Assisting in the assembly works of mechanical water and sewage treatment equipment
- Checking fabrications against drawings
- Completing workshop job packs
- Assisting in ordering parts
- Collecting / off-loading parts from suppliers
- Checking off deliveries against purchase orders
- This role will include general housekeeping, maintenance and cleaning. Plus making tea!
Candidates Qualities / Skills:
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team or on your own carrying out supervised tasks safely
- Good Health and Safety awareness (training is provided)
- Communication - Ability to communicate well with all your colleagues, Suppliers and Customers, as you will be representing IQ Engineers
- Ability to listen and enthusiasm and openness to learn new things

- Having a good sense of humour
Job type - Permanent, full time Monday to Friday 8.30am to 4.30pm
Annual wage - £20,800 for the first year, thereafter an annual review
